The schedule for the 2024 Wuhan Open has been announced, set for October 12.
This year’s semifinals feature an exciting lineup. Coco Gauff will face Aryna Sabalenka for the eighth time, while Chinese players Zheng Qinwen and Wang Xinyu will meet for what marks the first-ever WTA 1000-level semifinal showcasing a “China Derby.”
Action kicks off at 2:30 PM with a matchup between the duo of Muhammad/Pegula and Fernandez/Sugiyama.
Following that, at approximately 4:30 PM, Gauff will take on Sabalenka. In their previous seven encounters, Gauff holds a slight edge with four wins to Sabalenka’s three. Their last two meetings occurred on grand slam stages, with Gauff’s thrilling three-set victory over Sabalenka in last year’s US Open final marking her first major title, followed by Sabalenka’s straight-set win in this year’s Australian Open semifinals.
Later in the evening, around 7:00 PM, Zheng Qinwen will go head-to-head with Wang Xinyu in what promises to be a thrilling encounter, further emphasizing the significance of this historic “China Derby” in WTA 1000 semifinals.
Immediately following this match, Danilina/Kramachkova will face off against Alexandrova/Sinyakova.
