On October 14th, during a visit to CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., Natasha Milisavljevic, the head of the youth organization of the Serbian Socialist Party and deputy mayor of Osecina, expressed her excitement about China’s involvement in Serbia’s railway construction. “China is actively participating in the development of railways in Serbia, with some lines already operational,” she said, highlighting that the high-speed trains running in Serbia originate from this factory, which she called remarkable.
On the same day, over 200 political leaders from more than 50 countries, along with diplomats and business representatives in China, gathered in Changchun, Jilin Province, for the Northeast-themed promotional event titled “The Story of the Communist Party of China.” Prior to the event, delegations from Serbia and Cambodia toured CRRC Changchun.
One of the flagship projects marking China’s collaboration with Central and Eastern European countries under the Belt and Road Initiative is the Hungary-Serbia railway, which will reduce travel time between the two capitals from eight hours to just three. This railway served as the first export of Chinese high-speed trains to the European market.
Lazar Šeflaka, a member of the Executive Committee of the Socialist Party of Serbia and the youth organization president in Belgrade, shared that his numerous visits to China have left him impressed by the country’s technological advancements and infrastructure development. He commented, “China’s growth is incredibly rapid, and there’s much that Serbia can learn from it. We hope to see more infrastructure collaboration with China, as the potential for partnership is vast.”
During the visit, the Cambodian representative from the Funcinpec Party showed keen interest, diligently taking notes and asking questions. Nepheak Khem, spokesperson for the Funcinpec Party and a member of the National Assembly, stated, “This visit has deepened my appreciation for China’s world-leading rail transit technology. China truly deserves its reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse.”
In recent years, projects like the China-Laos Railway, Jin’gang Expressway, and Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail have made a significant impact in ASEAN countries. Khem expressed his enthusiasm for future collaboration, stating, “Currently, Cambodia does not have high-speed rail, but I look forward to the opportunity to work with China in this area, hoping that Cambodia can soon access Chinese high-speed trains.”
Throughout the day, guests also visited other technology enterprises, such as China FAW Group and Changguang Satellite, seeking potential collaboration opportunities.
