First Manhattan Beach Food Festival 50 chefs show off their unique skills

Fifty chefs from cities like Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Denver showcased their culinary skills over two days at the inaugural Manhattan Beach Food & Wine Festival, held on October 11th and 12th. This premier event brought together an all-star lineup to deliver a variety of flavors to the South California community, all set against the backdrop of a refreshing seaside breeze.

The atmosphere at Manhattan Village in Manhattan Beach was vibrant and lively on the evening of October 11th, drawing food enthusiasts from all around. These chefs gathered to present their signature dishes, and attendees indulged in gourmet offerings while savoring the picturesque sunset over the Pacific Ocean. With delicious food in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, guests experienced an unmatched sensory delight.

Sophia, a passionate seafood lover, delighted in scallops, oysters, shrimp, and even sushi tacos. “I’ve attended several food festivals, but this is my first experience by the beach. It’s so refreshing, and enjoying seafood in this setting really immerses you in the experience,” she shared.

Among the notable chefs was Jet Tila, a renowned figure in the culinary scene. He captivated the crowd with his signature dish featuring Australian tomahawk steak, paired with Argentinian chimichurri and yuzu kosho. Tila’s popularity was clear as attendees lined up not only for his food but also for photos. With nearly 700,000 followers on Instagram, he has built a loyal fanbase through his shows like “Chopped” and his years as a judge in culinary competitions. “I tell stories through food,” he remarked.

The thriving culinary scene in Manhattan Beach features outstanding chefs and restaurants, including The Strand House, Mercado, and celebrated pastry chef Sherry Yard. These stellar talents not only provide exquisite cuisine but also support the Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-Cap), raising funds to help underprivileged youth pursue careers in the restaurant and hospitality fields.
