On October 16, Han Zhiqiang, the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, attended a meeting at the Thai Prime Minister’s office to discuss current affairs with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. During this visit, Ambassador Han presented aid funds collected by the Chinese Embassy and the Thai Chinese Entrepreneurs Association to assist with disaster relief efforts in Thailand due to recent flooding.
Accompanying Ambassador Han were key figures including Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, the Secretary-General of the Prime Minister’s Office Poommin Nittaya, and Deputy Foreign Minister Ravee Suvannakua, along with diplomats from the Chinese Embassy and representatives from the Thai Chinese Entrepreneurs Association.
Ambassador Han expressed his congratulations to Prime Minister Prayut on his new role, and they discussed activities planned for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. Han emphasized China’s deep concern regarding the flooding crisis and reiterated the country’s support for the Thai government and those affected by the disaster. He noted that the overseas Chinese community and Chinese enterprises in Thailand have contributed over 40 million Thai Baht in donations to aid this cause. He expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Prayut’s leadership, Thailand would overcome the flood challenges and successfully rebuild.
Prime Minister Prayut underscored the importance of the relationship with China and expressed gratitude for the support received from Chinese enterprises and the Chinese community in Thailand for disaster relief efforts. He highlighted that this cooperation reflects the deep-rooted friendship of “Thailand and China are like one family.” The Prime Minister also indicated that he looks forward to using the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to further advance the ties between Thailand and China.
