TD Africa to Empower 400 Young Women with TecHERdemy

At least 400 young Nigerian women stand to gain from a significant digital initiative as TD Africa launches the registration for TecHERdemy. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, spearheaded by TD Africa, the leading technology solutions distributor in sub-Saharan Africa, aims to equip young women with essential skills to succeed in today’s fast-paced digital environment.

In partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs, TecHERdemy will offer a comprehensive six-month training program to 400 women, focusing on high-demand tech areas such as cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and software development. This initiative is aligned with the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) annual “Girls in ICT” awareness campaign and serves as a launchpad for recent graduates and serving Corps members to kickstart their careers in tech. It aims to deepen their understanding of what a tech career entails in the modern landscape.

Mrs. Uju Kennedy, the Minister of Women Affairs, expressed her enthusiasm for the program on Twitter, stating, “Another great opportunity from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs for our women in Nigeria to benefit from in collaboration with TD Africa. This is an opportunity for young women interested in tech skills such as Cybersecurity, Data Science, AI, and Software Development. Kindly take hold of this opportunity and apply.”

Mrs. Chioma Chimere, the Coordinating Managing Director of TD Africa, emphasized the importance of awareness among women regarding their future. She remarked, “At TD Africa, we believe that technology is a powerful tool for social and economic progress. However, we also recognize the glaring gender gap in the tech industry. By investing in the education and empowerment of young Nigerian women, we are nurturing future tech leaders who will contribute to a more equitable and prosperous society.”
