On October 22, the “Ecological Innovation·Green Action” International Youth Talent Innovation Competition and the “Innovation Star” Green Creation Contest finals took place at the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, organized by the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Company and the Eco-City Management Committee.
This year’s competition focused on the theme of “Paths to Achieving Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality,” inviting global youth to submit projects. A total of 147 high-quality projects from both domestic and international participants were received, marking an approximately 8% increase from last year. The first prize was awarded to Tianjin Tianbao Xiang Technology Co., Ltd. for their project on “Green Production Increment and Pollution Reduction in Iron Concentrate.” Additionally, several other projects received second, third, and outstanding awards, with five of the twelve winning projects hailing from Singapore. Winners of the first, second, and third prizes not only received cash awards but are also eligible to apply for the “Innovation Star” rewards and benefit from the Eco-City’s incentive policies and services.
During the awards ceremony, the Eco-City joint venture signed a memorandum of understanding with five award-winning companies from Singapore to facilitate market expansion. Collaborations were also formed with Beihang Investment (Tianjin) Technology and two university project teams to support project implementation. Furthermore, the competition established the “International Youth Green Innovation Competition Service Alliance,” which comprises numerous initial members dedicated to providing various supports for green innovation projects. Several experts were appointed as innovation and entrepreneurship mentors to aid the future development of competing projects.
The Green Innovation Contest, launched in 2011, has successfully held thirteen editions and received a wealth of innovative works from 102 regions and cities. Xia Qing, the chairman of the judging panel, expressed appreciation for the youth participation and conveyed high expectations for their contributions. Zhang Yongchang, the president of the joint venture, stated that the contest has become a significant platform, and the company will continue to support project and talent development to propel advancements in the green low-carbon industry.
