-2024 Chinese Cultural Paradise – Camp Greenwood in Moscow, Russia- opens

On October 26th, the opening ceremony for the “2024 Chinese Cultural Wonderland—Moscow Greenwood Camp” was held at the Greenwood International Trade Center in Moscow. This event will run until November 3rd.

In his opening remarks, Liu Wei, the Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, highlighted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, the relationship continues to develop with enhanced quality, characterized by permanent friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and mutually beneficial collaboration. As two cultural powerhouses, China and Russia are actively engaging in multi-faceted exchanges under the framework of the “China-Russia Cultural Year,” aiming to promote mutual understanding and closer ties among their people. Liu expressed hope that participants from both countries would gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Chinese culture, helping to narrate the stories of modern China and the friendship between the two nations—serving as ambassadors of cultural exchange.

During the ceremony, Sun Bohui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Chengtong International, emphasized the significance of this platform for Sino-Russian collaboration. He noted that Chengtong International has been deeply involved in Russia for 25 years, facilitating deeper cooperation between the industrial and supply chains of both countries. Sun reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social responsibility, fostering cultural integration overseas, and youth exchanges. He also mentioned that the “Chinese Cultural Wonderland” initiative would serve as a springboard for more cultural activities aimed at enhancing the younger generation’s affinity for China and its enterprises.

Dingcenkou, a member of the board of the Russia-China Friendship Association, stated that the “Chinese Cultural Wonderland” program plays a crucial role in helping Russian youth gain insights into Chinese culture and develop a balanced perspective within the context of “China-Russia Cultural Year.” Through a range of engaging activities, including Chinese painting, calligraphy, and music, participants gain valuable knowledge and enjoyment. He expressed optimism that this opportunity would foster lasting friendships between Russian and Chinese youth, ensuring that their bond transmits through generations, akin to the enduring cultural ties of both nations.

Li Baizheng, Deputy Dean of the Heilongjiang Provincial Chinese Culture Institute, explained that the “Chinese Cultural Wonderland” initiative addresses the need of overseas Chinese youth to learn about their heritage while promoting the legacy of exceptional Chinese culture abroad. Since 2019, Heilongjiang Province has successfully hosted five such events, aiming for participants to immerse themselves in the richness of Chinese culture, fostering emotional and cultural ties with their ancestral homeland.

During this event, Liu Wei and Li Baizheng presented the camp flag to representatives from the “I Love Chinese” education center and Moscow’s No. 1948 school. Additionally, a representative delegation from China showcased a series of cultural performances, including songs, paper tearing art, calligraphy, martial arts, tie-dyeing, and an impressive rendition of the “Toreador Song.”

The “Chinese Cultural Wonderland” program is a flagship initiative of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office aimed at enhancing overseas Chinese youth’s understanding of and connection to China, promoting appreciation for its rich traditional culture, and fostering friendly cultural exchange between China and the world.
