On October 20th, the first National Fitness Competition (South China Region) Bicycle Touring Conference kicked off in Qingyuan, specifically at the Lian Nan Shimo Park. This event drew in 400 cycling enthusiasts who came together to experience the thrill and speed that cycling brings.
With the firing of the starting gun, eager riders surged forward, racing into the wind as their bicycle tires made a crisp sound against the pavement. The energy was palpable, amplified by the cheers from the enthusiastic crowd.
The 48-kilometer cycling route was specially designed to traverse through notable landmarks, including a nationally recognized AAAA tourist attraction and the first national stone desert park in Guangdong. Riders experienced the stunning landscapes of the Wanshan Chaowang National Stone Desert Park, highlighted for its karst geological formations that earned it the nickname “Second Danxia.” This scenic route not only offered breathtaking views but also posed challenges with several uphill segments, allowing participants to enjoy both the natural beauty and the exhilarating sport of cycling, creating a memorable journey for their minds and bodies.
As the riders made their way from the west gate of Wanshan Chaowang National Stone Desert Park onto County Road 699, they paused at the Wanshan Chaowang viewing platform, one of the top ten photography spots in Lian Nan Yao Autonomous County. Standing atop, they gazed at the expansive valley surrounded by lush mountains that seemed to race toward them like a powerful army. This event included designated photo spots for riders, with services available for capturing these moments. Many cyclists stopped to take photos with friends, commemorating their adventure.
As a national, comprehensive, and community-focused sports event, the National Fitness Competition not only provides a platform for athletes to showcase their skills but also exemplifies the high-quality development of fitness for all in various aspects.
