Chongqing went to Beijing to recruit talents, and 926 students initially expressed their intention to come to Chongqing.

On October 18, the Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau reported on a successful recruitment initiative held from October 16 to 17 as part of the “One Million College Graduates and Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Plan.” This event, which took place at key universities in Beijing, attracted 926 students who expressed interest in job placements.

Beginning in April 2024, the city of Chongqing will launch its ambitious plan aimed at retaining 300,000 college graduates for employment and entrepreneurship within the region, positioning itself as the premier destination for job seekers in the western part of China. To date, public talent service organizations in Chongqing have hosted 404 events at institutions such as Chongqing University, Southwest University, Chongqing University of Technology, and Xi’an Jiaotong University, which have served over 324,000 university students and attracted more than 293,000 graduates to stay and work in Chongqing.

The Beijing recruitment event featured both online and offline sections. The in-person talent exchange occurred at Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Beijing Institute of Technology, featuring five major recruitment zones where 304 job openings were presented by 49 state-owned enterprises, emerging productivity companies, and higher education institutions. The event drew 2,150 outstanding candidates, resulting in 1,657 resumes submitted, with 926 candidates reaching initial agreements—comprising 333 doctoral, 578 master’s, and 15 bachelor’s degree holders.

Meanwhile, the online recruitment segment took place on job platforms like the Chongqing Talent Work Network and “Yuzhi Pin,” where over 200 employers posted more than 1,500 job vacancies. The recruitment activities will continue until the end of this year.

Additionally, during the promotion event at Peking University, the Chongqing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau signed a cooperation agreement with the university to enhance collaboration. The agreement aims to bolster communication, talent acquisition, student internships and social practices, entrepreneurship support, and mutual visits, further encouraging the integration of industry, academia, and research while promoting the smooth flow of talent for mutual benefit.

In the coming months, Chongqing plans to extend its talent recruitment activities to Yunnan and Sichuan, and will host the Chongqing International Talent Exchange Conference in November. These efforts will focus on innovative activities and expanded scale to accelerate talent accumulation, stimulate workforce vitality, sharpen the focus on talent-related initiatives, and improve the efficiency of talent services significantly.
